There is always that one week in January every year where we get to unthaw a little from the freeze and head to the beach. We were so excited that it was this past weekend because the cold was starting to get old. Our weekend was filled with family, beach time, and pool time. Tim’s sister Charity joined us for part of the weekend and our first beach jaunt was out to Cayucos. Mia got some good sand time in and her first walk on the pier. She loved watching the waves and would emphatically repeat “more” after each one crashed. The next day my sister and family came into town and we headed to Avila Beach. My sister was staying in Avila so we took advantage of her hotel pool. It had been since last summer that Mia had been in a pool. Last summer’s pool experience was such a good one I wasn’t sure if she would grow a little more timid now that she was older. Timid was one thing she was not! She must have jumped from the edge of the pool into Tim’s arms 50 times. She loved swimming despite the chilly pool temperature. She kept telling Tim, “no touch” while they were in the deep end which is her way of saying “I will do it myself”. We couldn’t take our eyes off of her for a second as she was such a daredevil in the pool.
